Raiding is the act of illegally breaking into an occupied residence as stated in rule 5.3. Raiding is a staple of PERPHeads crime, it can be an extremely profitable method of making money if you know what you are doing. This guide will teach you all the aspects of raiding needed for you to attempt a raid of your own on the server.
You can begin a raid by:
Rules to note while raiding:
The first step of raiding is making entry to the property you are raiding, to do this there are several tools you can choose from. Their ease of use and cost vary massively. All of these are used by left-clicking them in your inventory.
Tool | Name | Risk | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Crowbar | High | The crowbar is the "old-reliable" tool for raiding, it is relatively cheap and is highly effective but is also very loud which takes away the opportunity for the element of surprise. While you can still be wallbanged through the door of the property you are raiding while crowbarring, it's versatility comes from being able to slowly move in each direction while crowbarring to mitigate risk of being wallbanged. It is worth noting that the further you walk away while crowbarring the lesser the chance of the door being broken open. | |
Lockpick | Mediocre | The lockpick can be one of the most rewarding raiding tools if used effectively. It is much quieter than the crowbar allowing you to possibly get into a property unnoticed, but this comes with a much higher risk of being wallbanged as you must be completely stationary while using it. | |
Timed explosive | Low | The timed explosive is an expensive, yet effective tool for raiding. Once placed it will beep multiple times, getting faster until it explodes. Once placed, it cannot be picked up into the inventory, only moved around with your fists when right clicking it with your fists out. The explosion is able to blast open any non-garage door as well as flinging any props or defenses placed near it. However, it can also kill anybody near it, so stay away when it explodes! It is a great tool for raiding as it will make it much easier to raid if the properties defenses are rag dolled and flung about and leaves you with an extremely low chance of being wallbanged through the door when trying to break in. | |
Remote explosive | Low | The remote explosive is a timed explosive, however it is detonated by calling a number given to you when placed and it is able to be taken into the inventory until the number is called. |
Your lockpicking level determines how likely you are to successfully lock pick a door. This level goes from 0 > 8 with 8 being the most likely to successfully lock pick a door. You can advance your level through successfully lock picking doors, as you level it up, you will gain less percent from lock picking a door, meaning it will take longer to advance through the later levels compared to the earlier ones. However, it is a very useful skill to level up if you are interested in raiding properties since it could save you the money and time of using multiple lock picks which can commonly be the difference between winning or losing a raid.
When raiding you will almost certainly come into contact with defenders or police, so to neutralise them you will need a gun. Your weapon is your best friend when it comes to raiding. You need to make sure to pick a sensible weapon for a good chance of having a successful raid. The type of weapon you use should vary depending on the area you are planning on raiding, for example:
Pistols - Overall an acceptable choice for any stealth raids and decent at most distances. However, not a great pick if there are a lot of police on duty that may respond your raid, as it will be very difficult to fend off against 4+ cops as well as taking out any defenders present on the property you are raiding, due to their low ammo capacities and most being only semi-automatic. Pistols are very versatile, they can be used at any distance pretty well, but you should try refrain from rushing inside to take out defenders, as there semi automatic shooting is not great for close range, since you will want to be aiming for the head if you want to quickly kill the defender, which means you are only putting yourself at greater risk of death if you push in. If you are using one of the few pistols that do have an automatic mode, you will find yourself running out of ammo very quickly and having a lot of recoil to control. For these reasons, automatic mode is not optimal on a pistol.
Shotguns - Should only be used in close quarter ranges such as in slums, tidals or the inside of suburban homes. Not a great choice if you are raiding alone because if more than a couple of cops push you at one time then it will be almost impossible for you to kill all of them without dying due to their slow shooting and reloading speeds. If you are using a shotgun, you shouldn't be hesitant to push inside and take out defenders as the closer you can get to them, the more likely you are to take them out. For their price, you are probably better off purchasing a pistol due to its more versatile nature.
Submachine guns - A great choice for raiding as they are very viable at close to medium ranges. Stealth raids would be especially benefited by a submachine gun because most of them are concealable and able to quickly kill multiple players if used correctly. There are little to no properties on the map where a submachine gun would fail to put up a good fight, however on open places such as highways or roads they can be quite inadequate compared to other choices, as most submachine guns have low damage and high recoil.
Rifles - The best choice for raiding if you aren't going to attempt a stealth raid. Their high damage and quick shooting speed puts up an excellent fight against police and defenders. Rifles should be your go to choice for raiding due to their versatility: they are great at all ranges and have a rather large magazine size. These traits make it much easier to take out a large number of opponents compared to other types of guns. Though rifles are great, they are the second most expensive choice of weaponry, so make sure that you are keeping track of your spending wisely if you want to raid with rifles!
Sniper Rifles - Sniper rifles can either perform amazingly or burn through your bank account in a day. They are great at long and medium ranges, however if you miss your first shot at a close range then your opponent will have a huge advantage on you and likely cause your demise. You should only pick a sniper rifle if you are raiding with a group of individuals, since if a large number of defenders or police push you, it will be extremely difficult for you to survive without others to help you take the opponents out. Sniper rifles are by far the most expensive type of weapon with some cost up to 45k. Snipers are not very versatile, however the situations in which they are usable in, they excel in. For example, if you are holding the fire escape of regals from under the city bridge while your dear acquaintances raid the external door of a regals apartment, you are at a colossal advantage to any potential cops or counter raiders due to the Snipers ability to easily take out opponents at long ranges.
Specific firearm statistics are viewable here.
When raiding it is extremely important to have a selection of medical supplies at your ready. Here are the different types of medical supplies and what they are used for:
Supply | Name | Description |
---|---|---|
Stimpack | Stimpacks quickly heal you, taking 3-4 to fully heal someone on the lowest health. They do not fix broken legs or stop bleeding. | |
Bandage | Bandages do not heal health, however they prevent bleeding which if not done soon enough will lead to your death. | |
Splint | Splints do not heal health or prevent bleeding, however they temporarily fix broken legs which will allow you to moved at normal speeds instead of the slowed down speed of having a broken leg. |
Unlike regular raids, police raids (most of the time) are completely legal. Many raiders (police or not) may announce PLPD before breaking in, a few good ways to tell if they are telling the truth are to:
Police may raid you if:
Police have two special breaching tools:
C4 - Attached to a door and after being detonated explodes the door of its hinges after five seconds, with only the quiet beeping before hand making a noise (until the explosion of course). Despite it's description, it doesn't actually deal any damage to anybody no matter how close you are to it.
Breaching Hammer - Bashes into a door with a chance of that door opening on impact, however it makes a lot of sound. The breaching hammer is also able to eject all habitants of a car with a 100% accuracy rate.
If police commit an unlawful police raid, you can make an IA complaint on them here.
If no cops are on scene of a raid or all cops on the scene of the raid are dead then any civilian may attempt to counter the raid. Raids may be countered from the second a raid is initiated until the raiders exit the scene, so as well as watching out for cops you will need to keep an eye out for any civilians acting suspicious.
Signs someone might plan on countering a raid:
If you see any civilians doing any of these things it will be in your best interest to tell them to leave, either with a gun in your hand in a passive stance or by gun pointing them, however if you gun point them, they will be allowed to kill you any time even after the raid is concluded.
